Luísa Pedroso

Tell us...
1. who is Luísa Pedroso?
Luísa Pedroso is a young Jewelry Designer that almost became a Mechanical Engineer but that found the love for Jewelry on that way, and since then, never looked back again. She works as designer for a jewelry company but it’s on her own workshop and on her own artistic projects that she founds the real pleasure of working and creating in jewelry. Besides that she just has one more passion… travelling…

2. have you become what you wanted to be when you grew up?
I never thought I would become an artist or designer, and attending Engineering University proves that. But the truth is that I always said that I wanted to be happy when I grew up… and I couldn’t be happier doing what I love most… Jewelry.

3. what inspires you to create?
I am pretty influenced by colors and shapes, specially from very classical types of jewels. I am addicted on Classical Jewelry shapes, that I love to re-create and re-design in very different ways and several different materials. I also love gemology, so I also find a strong influence on the different kind of gems existing on the classic / antique Jewels I love. Working inspired on gems colors and gems cuts is the new recent project that I’m working on now.

4. your artistic media of choice.
My artistic media of choice has become the laser cut either on plexiglass, silver, leather or rubber. It is a technique that has become recurrent in several projects I’ve developed.

All my new workshop is the apple of my eye.

6. a day at work.
I´m not the kind of person that can say she has a routine... on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays I work as a jewelry designer on a company 100km from home so I spend half day working, half day driving...
On the rest of the week I spend days between my own workshop, my clients, the shops where I sell and the school where I still study some jewellery technics just to keep updated and practise in different ways.

7. a business tip.
Always keep calm and be assertive…

8. an advice to your younger you.
Do exactly the same you did… but try to be not so stressed…

9. a plan to the future.
Create my own brand and my own business.
